If you’re considering upcoming travel, Southwest Airlines just made that decision a lot easier with their current fall fare sale.
Now through August 12, book cheap flights for travel dates within the continental US, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean between August 24 and December 15. One-way plane tickets start as low as $49.
Just know that you must have a 21-day advance purchase and blackout dates apply. While the cheapest prices won’t include holidays like Thanksgiving, you can still find flight deals for high-peak travel if you are flexible with dates and timing.
Unlike Alaska’s current fall airfare sale, which is more limited to the West Coast, Southwest’s network of flights covers much of the United States, offering many non-stop options from East Coast cities like New York City, Orlando, or Atlanta. Book a flight regionally or cross country, or plan a beach break to Hawaii or the Caribbean for well under $200 each way.

How to find cheap flights on Southwest
To find the best prices, use Southwest’s Low Fare Calendar. From there, you can pick your months of departure and return and see the cheapest prices for every day in the month.
The cheapest tickets will be the “Wanna Get Away” fare, which includes two checked bags for free, no change fees, a flight credit if you need to cancel, plus frequent flier mileage earning potential. Those are huge savings considering you can fly on a $49 fare route for cheaper than checking two bags on almost any other airline.
For about $30 more, the “Anytime” fare is fully refundable with same-day standby options, while “Business Select ” for $50 to $100 more comes with priority boarding and security as well as a premium drink. As with all Southwest flights, you may not pick your seat ahead of time.
